Daily Morse Puzzle
Listen to a word in Morse code and work out what it is. Six attempts, one new word every day — the same word for everyone in the world.
Today's puzzle
Your streak lives in this browser only. No account, no server, nothing uploaded.
How to play
- Press Listen. The word is keyed in Morse code.
- Type what you think it was and press Guess.
- Each letter is marked: right letter in the right place, in the word but somewhere else, or not in the word at all.
- Six attempts. Come back tomorrow for a new word.
Replay the audio as often as you like — there is no penalty. Slow the speed down if you need to, though most people find it easier to keep the speed up and listen more times.
If you are still learning
Tick Show the dots and dashes to see the code written out. That turns the puzzle from a listening exercise into a reading one, which is a fair place to start.
The marks do not rely on colour alone: every filled square also carries a symbol — ✓ for the right place, ● for the wrong place, × for not in the word.
Working through the practice trainer for a week first makes this much more enjoyable.
Everyone gets the same word
The puzzle number is simply the number of days since 1 January 2026, counted in UTC. That number picks the word from a fixed list, so every player worldwide sees the same puzzle and it changes at the same instant everywhere — midnight UTC, not midnight where you happen to be.
No server is involved. Your browser works out the day and looks the word up locally, which is also why the puzzle keeps working offline and why your streak never leaves your device.
The flip side of having no server is that the word list ships with the page, so anyone curious enough can read ahead. We would rather be straightforward about that than pretend otherwise — it is a daily game, not a competition with prizes.
Missed a day? The puzzle archive lets you play past rounds. Those are practice only and never touch your streak.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the daily Morse puzzle work?
A word is played to you in Morse code and you have six attempts to guess it. After each guess, every letter is marked as being in the right place, in the word but elsewhere, or not in the word at all.
Does everyone get the same word?
Yes. The word is chosen from the number of days since 1 January 2026 in UTC, so every player worldwide gets the same puzzle and it changes at midnight UTC.
Do I need an account?
No. Your streak and statistics are stored in your own browser. There is no login, no server and nothing to sign up for. Clearing your site data resets the streak.
Can I replay the audio?
As often as you like, and you can change the speed at any time. Neither costs you an attempt.
What if I cannot read Morse code yet?
Tick the option to show the dots and dashes, which turns it into a reading puzzle instead of a listening one. The practice trainer on the Learn Morse Code page is a good way to build up to the audio version.
How long are the words?
Between four and seven letters. The length for the day is shown above the board, and the input field only accepts that many letters.
