Cookie Policy

The translator needs no cookies at all. This page explains what that means and what would change if advertising is switched on.

Cookies we set

The Morse code translator itself sets none. It neither identifies you nor remembers anything between visits. The only cookies that can appear are the analytics cookies described below, and only after you have agreed to them.

Local storage

Two values may be saved in your browser's local storage, both strictly functional and never transmitted anywhere:

  • mc-themelight or dark, so the site remembers your theme choice. Set only when you click the theme button.
  • mc-consentgranted or denied, so we do not ask you about cookies on every page. Set only when you answer the banner.

Both stay on your device and can be removed by clearing site data in your browser.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people find useful. It sets cookies (_ga and _ga_<id>, valid for up to two years) that give your browser a random identifier so returning visits are not counted twice.

It only runs if you agree. Nothing is loaded and no cookie is set until you press Accept on the banner that appears on your first visit. If you press Decline, Google Analytics is never loaded at all. You can change your mind at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer; withdrawing consent also deletes the analytics cookies already stored.

Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited. Data may be transferred to servers in the United States. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and section 25 (1) TDDDG.

Advertising

No display advertising is active on this website yet, so no advertising cookies are set. The layout reserves space for adverts, but no ad network is loaded.

TODO before switching adverts on: name the ad network here and link to its privacy notice. The consent banner already gates the ad loader in the same way it gates analytics, so no separate consent tool is needed.

Managing cookies

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and local storage per site, usually under privacy or site settings. Blocking storage for this site will not stop the translator from working; only the saved theme preference is lost.
